Arthur Miller

Arthur Miller died yesterday at the age of 89. Coincidentally, one of his most known plays, Death of a Salesman, is playing both in London (with Brian Dennehy) and in Oslo (with Dennis Storhøi) this year. I would like to see both versions, as well as the fim starring Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich.

Current track: Nothing.

Comments:
Way back in 1985 (I think) there was a production of this play at National with Henki Kolstad as the main character. I was a bit surprised at the time to find out that he really was an exellent Willy Loman.

The play moved me. This quote from the play (the Norwegian version of course)stuck in my mind:

"Willy Loman never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper. He’s not the finest character that ever lived. But he’s a human being, and a terrible thing is happening to him. So attention must be paid. He’s not to be allowed to fall into his grave like an old dog. Attention, attention must be finally paid to such a person."

So attention must soon be paid to Dennis I reckon

*looks around and says in a very low voice* I'm a bit afraid Dennis is too young for the part. Shh!

But I may be wrong. I was always picturing Dustin Hoffman when reading the play, and he's looked old since The Graduate, haha!

And I wonder what I meant by fim. *blames her keyboard*
