Day of Daniel Auteuil

Yep, we had a Daniel Auteuil day today, as I got 36 Quai des Orfèvres in the post. So we started with the film where I first really noticed him; La fille sur le pont and then went on to last year's hit, Caché, before ending with the aforementioned 36..., which I hadn't seen yet.

I had my own little Daniel Auteuil day last week when I watched Un coeur en hiver and Après vous... and I feel at least one more coming up soon.

"Celebrity" Big Brother

I have been drawn into this season's Celebrity Big Brother, simply because I must see how long Jermaine Jackson will stay. Two contestants have already bowed out (because of Jade Goody, haha, isn't that just perfect) and it's only been four days!

My favourite quote so far; Jermaine is discussing his many children with Jade and tells her one of them is called Jermajesty. "I ran out of names." I spat pizza. I mean, you have eight kids, already run out of names and of all the words out there, you make up such a silly one?

Thank God Waking the Dead is back, though. It is getting sillier also, but as long as the chemistry between Trevor Eve and Sue Johnston is such a good one, I don't mind.

Other than that, I have seen a couple of films lately; Deja Vu was ok, but I wouldn't really recommend it until it's on telly for free, and Flushed Away was quite funny. Bill Nighy stole the show again. How does that man do it?

Happy New Year, Everyone!

That was quite a spectacular fireworks display from the Embankment. I was watching the whole thing from my sitting room (I am working tomorrow, so decided not to go to the neighbours' party) with a second's delay to what was showing on telly. The bit at the end where they lit up the whole thing was amazing to see from here, as it looked as if the whole of Central London was set alight. And I really, really like the fact that once again people have refrained from sending up any rockets until around 10 p.m.--perhaps that actually is the norm around here, as opposed to what I'm used to from Norway where they start lighting them two weeks before New Year's Eve and then end at around Easter. OK, little bit of an exaggeration there, but you probably get my drift.

Let's nevertheless hope for a 2007 that treats us all very well.

My Favourites of 2006 will be presented within the next few days.
